We are so obsessed with doing that we have no time and no imagination left for being. As a result, men are valued not for what they are but for what they do or what they have for their usefulness. - Thomas Merton
Good morning, everyone. You know, I just wrote an entry and then it vanished. It was user error. Make no mistake. But I am still sleepy. You see, I woke up at 10:00. I know, for some that may not be very late. For me, that is about four or five hours later than I usually sleep. Antibiotics are lovely and they are helping loads, but I am still tired. The flight was great. Trish and I watched an episode of Firefly on the mac. Southwest makes the sedentary moment entertaining. Good times.
We landed in DC and went to get our rental car. We had reserved an economy car, but in the spirit of wanting to get things off the lot, they gave us a PT Cruiser at no extra cost. Now we want one. It is a great ride and, well, funky in that anglobaptist kind of hip way. Ha! Spoiled rotten by the rental car guy.
We had lunch with some friends who live near the airport and made our way to Lynchburg where Mom has prepared a feast. Lobster, twice baked potatoes and asparagus. I had to put the still-live buggers in the pot of boiling water, but there you go. I am still full.
Today the weather is wonderful, warm and sunny. Trish and I will go shopping for dinner (Yes, more food.), and then go to her parents' house in nearby Huddleston. Tonight we'll feast with more family. It should be lovely. I will never fit in my pants again.
I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve. I was asleep until Trish came in at midnight with poppers (**BANG!!**) and woke me up. God bless the wife who will say no to two cool party invites to hang out with her dozing husband at New Year's Eve. I love my spouse.
Y'all be good!
