mea culpa

So he said he's sorry. Well, that is something. My own rant about this would have been something like: Please send us a leader who can speak in public! Dear God, but someone skipped speech class. Oy veh. Anyway, go here to read an article about the apology (Yes, I read the Washington Times. What about it?). One of the things that I found interesting about this whole deal is that no one really made a huge fuss on the internet, well, not the people I read, at least. I'm not entirely certain why...except that it was such an obvous blunder that no one could really defend Kerry, not even on the internet. And that, brothers and sisters, is saying something.

In other news, I opened my Celtic Prayer Book this morning and the reading continues the All Saints theme. Not to make light of the tradition, but the Northumbria folk really like tehir saints. It is All Saints Week in the tradition. From yesterday:
This is Jesus, the Carpenter King
who came from God to show us His heart.
He died but returned from the jaws of the grave
and promised his friends he would always be with them.
The fire of His love would remain in their heart.
And this is the house that God built.
And for today:
This is John the beloved one
who followed Jesus as the Way
embraced the Truth and shared his life;
and at the supper of the Lord
leaned closer to Him, heard his words;
for those who lean on Jesus' breast
hear the heart of God.
And this was the heart that John heard.

When years had passed, and he was old
on Patmos island he was held
a prisoner for his love of Christ;
but watching in his lonely cave
he saw the shape of things to come,
of things in heaven and on earth
a Revelation!

Sweet punishment to him- the solitude
that drove him deeper into God,
enfolded by Spirit until he saw
the Lord with eyes of fire, and hair like wool,
and heard His voice like thundering waterfall:
and this was the heart that John heard.

As ordinary time comes to a close, we begin to see more and more of the apocalyptic in the lectionary and, it would seem, in this devotional. We are approaching a time of preparation in Advent, preparation for an approaching God. In advent hymns and Christmas carols God approaches...in lighting candles, prayer and song...God approaches! Make the way straight!

nobody is saying anything because it is a non-story. Bill O'Reilley even said so, that is something...

The real story is that at the same time that Fox is going bat crap crazy over the botched joke, our troops have been given orders from Malaki to STOP looking for a missing soldier. No body is mentioning that we have officially lost control of our own troops in Iraq. Our commander in chief, who himself made awful jokes about not finding WMDs, is no longer in command.

But, no, the news will say nothing about that, they just keep harping on the fact that Kerry screwed up a joke, and a not very good one at that.

grrrrrrrr
