"It is natural for us to wish that all men who bear the name of Christian should join our Chruch, our sect, our society; but after all, there is no place for bigotry among the followers of Christ...Christians should feel a generous tolerance toward their fellow believers of every name."
-Charles R. Edrman
Posted by tripp at September 30, 2006 12:20 PMThe trick is in balancing a one-true-church claim with charity. Of course the two aren't mutually exclusive just because some act like they are!
In my blog's sidebar under 'religion' is a link 'On making apologetical points - or not' that is partly to do with this. (But not directly about dealing with other Christians.) Providentially found it when in an online argument, obviously found something there, back-tracked and apologised to some people. All without compromising anything. Just like the Orthodox priest in the story.
