Here it goes. So many others are doing it. Be gentle. Heck, be funny. Whatever. Oy.
Then post this to your journal/blog. See what people remember about you.
Posted by tripp at February 25, 2005 03:39 PMThe laying on of hands on November 7, 2004 is one of the most awesome things I have ever witnessed.
The other memory was of you holding court during a party at Heather's when she was living on the block. Quintessential pontification.
Posted by: Wes at February 25, 2005 05:59 PMOkay - sappy and sentimental. I remember I was having one pretty horrid night in a muddled depression freshman year of college in the midst of a breakup. And I remember that you were a really good listener, not in a patronizing way, but I knew you were really listening and being supportive and that made me feel much better.
But -- I was really hoping you would offer to walk me back across the lake because I hated riding the "safety shuttle" (okay the "rape van"), but you didn't. Not that I blame you for not wanting to do all that walking - but I just remember that.
Satisfied?
thanksgiving - that a moment's notice you could jump into a conversation about chrysostom the genius v. chrysostom the psychotic!
Posted by: beth at February 25, 2005 10:16 PMHard to narrow down, bro-- but here goes.
Cantoring for Boar's Head, when we hadn't been able to practice-- and when we mangled the music, over and over, you simply kept laughing. A lesson in sanity.
Preaching the whole of Holy Week in one hour.
And cheese fries.

2. MTV videos
3. A really really bizarre dinner in Columbus, OH.
4. Late night conversations about marrige.
Thanks for the memories.
Posted by: Reverend Ref at February 26, 2005 10:54 AMI remember one time late last year when you officiated Matins and I thought it was sad that I wasn't going to be able to hear such a beautiful rendition of that after you graduated. It truly was a great prayer, your songs.

Posted by: ryan at February 26, 2005 04:13 PMI remember today at up/rooted collects when you said that not everyone can be a monk, but that seeing a monk be a monk makes a difference to your own faith. I thought that was very profound and an intriguing thought.
BTW, it's been good to make your acquaintance recently.
-Mike Clawson (from up/rooted)
of course there are too many - but i was thinking about that day we met in the refectory today too! but, since you used that one... i have a really vivid picture of you in my head from the trip to twin cities - you sitting on trevor's half-done floor in the kitchen with your guitar, playing "I Could SIng of Your Love Forever".
lots of guitar memories... playing Guns & Roses at the kitchen table with Jeff and Cat... fifth-floor singing sessions to fight the CPE insanity... early mornings at your moms house. What is it about music and memories anyway?
