Good morning. I hope this finds you all well.
Today I will not be on the floors of the hospital so much. I need to get some reading/research done for my project at the hospital. I have decided, to no one's great surprise, that I will study music therapy throughout they year. Since pastoral care and therapy are not the same, the fun will be to spin everything I learn in music therapy toward pastoral care. As the Rabbi said, "Your theology will change. Tell me about your theology and I'll come to the presentation." What His Rabbinicalness does not know is that as a Baptist I have no theology. Ha! (Find the humor, people.)
I want to throw a few links your way today. So get your clicker ready.
First, there are three sermons that have been posted by my neredowell Episcopal brethren that provide much food for though and faith. The Rev Ref wishes you all a Happy New Year. You will need to scroll down a bit to get to it. The Goode Sacristan wants us to be ready, no, I mean ready. The Rev Lieutenant preached his sermon sitting down. You should read it in the same posture.
Do not say to yourself, "My power and the might of my own hand have gotten me this wealth." But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today. If you do forget the LORD your God and follow other gods to serve and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish. Like the nations that the LORD is destroying before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.Yeah, it is like that sometimes.
In other thinking news, The Scandalous One writes of allegiance and academia. I think it is worth a read. Pop on over. I want to respond to her post with a little Jesuit mojo later on. Humility is a virtue that may be neglected by teacher and student alike. How would humility shape our allegiances?
Reconciler has sent out its first official church e-newsletter update thingy. I know, so what...but it's just cool to have an e-update thing. Hey, people, I am serving a church. We have a place we meet. We even have a newsletter thing! This is so cool! If you want to be on the mailing list (We have one of them too! Amazing!), let us know.
Finally, Trevor filed on eating. I love to eat. Food in general is a good thing. What he says is a little different than expressing a great love of tater tots, however, and deserved a mention. I think it can challenge us to remember that, as far as liturgy is concerned, the Word and the Sacrament are really the same thing, deserving of the same liturgical weight if you will. "The Word became flesh..." "Eat this bread, itis my body broken for you." Does your church honor the Word in its fullness? Have we made more of one than the other? This may not quite be Trevor's thinking, but it is where I tend to spin off.

And with that, I am done.
Peace between neighbors,
Peace between kindred,
Peace between lovers,
In love of the King of life.
Peace between person and person,
Peace between wife and husband,
Peace between parents and children,
The peace of Christ above all peace.
Bless, O Christ, our faces,
Let our faces bless every thing;
Bless, O Christ, our eyes,
Let our eyes bless all they see.
Hey -- thanks for the plug! Hope all is well in Chicagoland, give my love to the lovely Mrs. Tripp.

Thanks for the reminder. I think that when we look at the word as a body the difference between word and sacrament can dissolve.
I don't always remember this.
