lady madonna?!

Um, so, Madonna was in a dream last night. Nothing inappropriate happened sadly, and she seems quite nice. But it is odd when celebrities show up in my dreams.

And, in other news, Micah sent this. I've been following it for a while. Beyond the liberal/conservative divide, the SBC is a strange animal to me. Well, read it if you are curious.

So, do you imagine it would be a good thing or a bad thing if the SBC withdrew from the worldwide association?

Well, there are fiancial realities at work. Their (the SBC) funds support a lot of what the BWA does. I think it is a majority percentage of the annual budget actually. So, it could cripple a lot of the BWA's efforts. That is a bad thing.

The good? Well, that all depends on what your goals are. I think that it is bad news all around for the BWA. They are after a certain unity. This movement by the SBC may destroy that.

They are after *actual* unity, or the appearance thereof?

It seems like the SBC's possible departure is motivated by a recognition that they are not, in fact, theologically and spiritually unified?

Yes, they see no unified theology and this troubles them. This may be to their credit. Part of the confusion, however, is that the theological differences were already present before the CBF entered the fray. It was only when the CBF made its appearance that the SBC went into escape mode. The CBF brought in no new theological perspectives.

This is what appears to be going on. So,there is some politicing going down.

I think part of the issue for SBC is the fact that CBF is a splinter of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperative_Baptist_Fellowship
