wisdom

Teresa, the young woman Trish and I are "minding" the next couple of days, said someting interesting during Sleepy Hollow. As the headless horseman is being dragged hither and yon resulting in the carriage breaking on top of his head she said "That is one durable dead guy."

Indeed.

Is this a budding Christology at work? Hmmm...you tell me.

And here is something for AKMA. Frank may enjoy it as well.

It's only a budding Christology if you think Jesus is dead.

Tripp, interesting article on BBC. Theory is dead about as much as the headless horseman. It will continue to haunt the halls of academia for a long time to come. Beware when you hear academics proclaiming the death of this or that. I think, however, that the point of the article is well taken, that theory is becoming an irrelevant form of discourse. Theory-makers are usually more interested in theory-talk than they are in "texts."

The idea, however, of there being a "return to literature itself"...PLEASE! As if "literature itself" exists. I enjoy theory, like any good book, because it causes me to reflect upon and reassess my own habits and values--important virtues for someone who reads texts for a living.
